Favorites Friday - Airports
May 3, 2013
This may seem like a strange topic to cover for Favorites Friday, but I simply feel the need to brag on my local airport. I've traveled quite a bit, though by no means as extensively as some, and the airport here in Fort Wayne is by far my favorite to fly out of and return to. I've heard some argue that it's cheaper to fly out of Indianapolis or Detroit or Chicago, and perhaps it is, but, in my experience, usually by less than $100. And by the time you factor in 2 to 3 hours of drive time, plus gas, and airport parking, and a hotel if the flight is insanely early in the morning, you don't end up saving much, if any. I would much rather save myself the time and frustration, and pay the extra to fly out of Fort Wayne. Not to mention the fact that, being such a small airport, I never have to arrive earlier than an hour before my flight is scheduled to depart. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes to get through security, manned by friendly TSA agents. The restrooms and facilities are always very clean. Parking is never more than a couple hundred yards from the entrance. And the best part, being greeted with a smile and a free cookie upon every arrival. How many airports can boast that? |
