WIP Wednesday - Kiera's Riding Habit
May 8, 2013

In Mortal Arts Kiera wears a particularly fetching riding habit that is based on a real riding habit currently housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In real life, this gorgeous ensemble is a deep brown, but for Kiera I decided to change the color to crimson. And I was thrilled when the Art Department at Berkley decided to use a version of this riding habit for the cover art for the book. Though, once again the color was changed, this time to a rich blue since Kiera's gown on the cover of The Anatomist's Wife was already red and they needed the new cover to be a different palette of colors. If you owned this riding habit, what color would you rather wear - deep brown, crimson, or a medium blue?
